Citizens Police Academy

Ever wondered what it’s like to be behind the badge? The Middletown Township Police Department invites you to join our Citizens Police Academy, a free six-week program designed to give residents a hands-on look at modern policing.

Participants will meet our officers, explore department operations, and take part in engaging activities such as traffic stop simulations, mock crime scene investigations, K-9 demonstrations, and scenario-based discussions on real-world policing challenges. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into patrol duties, criminal investigations, special units, legal considerations, and the role of community policing.

The program concludes with a graduation ceremony celebrating your completion of the academy. Optional ride-alongs and additional training opportunities may also be offered. You do not need to be a Middletown resident to apply, but would need to be able to attend the in-person training. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the course.

This is a unique opportunity to connect with your police department, learn how law enforcement works, and strengthen the partnership between officers and the community they serve. To take part in this program, please complete the application and return to the police department or email it to mrobison@mtpd.org.
